Approaching from the "formal"  end of the spectrum.. loving the how texture, mark making and colors work on the paper I realized that my work represents my love of the kimono/cruciform shape found in so many places.  I love contemporary architecture, lines intersecting creating maps, paths, fences shapes. .. and then breaking away. So the joy I find in painting overlaps formal and conceptual..  producing a variety of  pieces yet the underlying cruciform shape continue to emerge.

The first series comes from the deli paper inspiration .. making marks, playing with paints and developing shapes  as demonstrated on Jane Davies blog

Then I started adding bits of color

And then my passion for all things purple kicked in.............so much fun!
That's it for now.... but hopefully I will keep up the posting because there are more pieces to post.

Mining for Meanng - #1

Been involved in online class with Jane Davies called Mining for Meaning.  We have been trying to delve deeper into our work by working in series.

Here a few of my attempts..  The first two developed from Janes work I truly admire,  enjoyed working with colors I usually do not use

This one developed from my Kimono Series which I continue to revisit
And of course.. my love of purple surfaces.

Will continue to post over the next few days ...
