I have been playing around with this for oh so many layers... still not quite

 Adding purple..kind of sparks it up.. but still pretty flat... too much texture

An exploration in values

I have begun play with concept of 2 color value palette 

mixing white and black with yellow and greens attempting to work 4 values.  

white, mid white, mid dark, black. 

 I enjoyed working this way.. had a lot of fun

Sizes of these pieces range from 5x7 to approximately 9x9

Trying not to repeat myself... but very hard to break through this habit.

Returned to mark making and it still looks the same

Then I covered up previous painting trying to develope shapes, but once again ... repeating

Green is such a challenge for me, so I  checked in with Bob Burridge for direction.  

Used two greens, yellow, black and white.   

Additionally I attempted to focus on creating 4 values.

The Artworks

The Orcas Island Artworks is now open for the 2017 Season

Each year the Artworks closes for the month of January to refresh the gallery.  With over 50 members  participating in this Artist Co-op it is always a challeng for our hardworking creative staff to create a new fresh look to the display in the gallery.  The day before our re-opening we gather to welcome our new members and view the new setup.  Once again I am truly amazed and delighted with the results.

Below is our display.. my paintings and Dicks glass.

Pretty much fun to be part of this very talented and creative group of artist.

Been playing with monocratic.... this one is kind of dramatic... more to come

Marking Marking/ Grid underlying structure.

                   Today I played around with penciled grid structure to see what would emerge.  

Didn't really seem to follow the grid but getting used to the idea of having a grid to give structure to pieces.   Also there is the challenge of just making marks to express emotions

Seems like the lines are full of energy .. then tried a larger piece 

then I tried playing with blue

From the pastel class with Diana Sanford I play around with acrylic.... kind of lost the pastel, but 

enjoyed the process.
