I’m back…

DISCLAIMER Notice:  please know that as many times I try to edit my writings and it seems thaterrors continue to sneak by me.  So if misspelled words, incorrect grammar, etc. bother you, please be on notice.  If only I had an editor.

So many years since last I posted.  And so much has happened.

Won’t go into details,  just say I have been exploring, painting, learning, having ups and downs…I still LOVE to play with paint.

After recouping from a moving to our new home December 2021, I began taking a few classes via Zoom.  What a way to take a class.   No packing, no hauling supplies, no figuring out where to stay, and no travel planning.

My first class was with Sheila Davis https://www.sheiladavis.ca an abstract landscape artist in Canada.  I have been intrigued by her approach to painting trees for quite a while and have wanted to take her class on Vancouver Island but never got around to doing so.  She uses oils, which I have only done when painting with cold wax, this was an opportunity to learn more. She encourages students to GO BIG.   What a challenge.

My first painting of trees evolved into an abstract landscape… Go figure

Follow the bread crumbs to the final piece……

In the past I have played around with small landscape paintings but never exploring any further
I am quite pleased with this and enjoyed going BIG.

Next post I hope to show some of the smaller landscapes that lead to this.
